My make-up test (in NY) was $50. The day of the wedding it was 150 or so for me (airbrush make-up)...she came to the hotel to do it, and my mom was $75 (regular make-up). The bridesmaids made their own make-up arrangements so it was just my mom and I and the flower girl (a little lip gloss and tiny bit of blush, done for free). What do you usually charge for brides? I would take off maybe 25% for a friend and her bridal party. Please help, make-up artist how much should i charge for wedding make-up and test??
I wouldn't charge them for the trial, maybe you can consider that a gift? It's up to the bride and the brial party to determine if they pay together, I would give them a $ amount per person and if the bride pays for it she can add it all together. Could you maybe figure out the costs of your supplies and only charge for that? Since you don't know what to charge I imagine you don't do many wedding parties. Tell them you won't charge for the labor if they give you good word of mouth.
The girl that I booked for my make-up would normally charge $60 (wedding day and run-through for just me), but because she knows me and is doing my hair as well, she waived the fee. As one of the other girls said, it also depends on where you live.. I'm in SoCal, so that might sound pricy to other people. I would say that since you know them, if you were planning on going to the wedding anyway, somewhere like $20-30 that way you could pull in around $100 for the day and you'll still be pretty inexpensive.
It really depends on your area, it is impossible to say for someone who isn't local. Ask around. Since this is a favor and it sounds like you haven't done this much, you could do it for cost and possibly a small fee for your time. You could also figure out the cost and then an hourly wage for yourself, however much you want that to be. Talk tot them and see what they can afford, they may think you are doing it for free since you know them and they should know its negotiable. Don't let them walk all over you if you have a number in mind though, even if it is a favor your services are still worth something and they can find someone else.
Don't do a test run for the bridesmaids---only for the bride. Don't charge for the test run for her--if you have to--charge her $20(keep in mind you are going to most likely get a tip from each). Have them pay seperate. I would say $40 for the bridesmaid's and $50 for the bride. --Are you travelling far? If so charge $5 extra per person.
I am a stylist and have had the same issue. Call other artists in your area and ask what they usually charge per person to do weddings. I would come up with a total price for everone, a package price. Tell her that you expect half the payment before and the other half the day of the wedding. This way you can get the supplies you need. I don't know where you live so its hard to say what to charge. My friend does this for a living. Here is her website with pricing.http://katiekleinface.com/info.php?secti鈥?/a> maybe give her a slight dicount. 20% off.
As on myself, there are beauty consultants out there that so free consultations and teach you how to apply your own make up beatifully for your wedding... or if concerned about how your bridesmaids will look, get the free consultation for them to learn! www.MaryKay.com and search for a consultant in your area.
I just got married a few weeks ago in the Chicago suburbs and I paid $125.00. That included a trial run and she came to my house the day of the wedding to do my make-up. She charged $75.00 for anyone that wanted their make-up done the day of (they would not get a trial).
I paid $70 for my make up to be done the day of my wedding. I live in south florida so everything is expensive. My makeup looked amazing though. I didn't do a test run but I am sure if I did it would cost the same. I hope this gives you some ideas.
I'm paying $45 for my wedding makeup. Since she's a friend from school, you could maybe give her a 10 to 15% discount or something. I wouldn't charge for the trial, and I wouldn't bother with doing a trial for the bridesmaids either.
I'm getting a high end salon to do all my hair and makeup for $150 for me and five bridesmaids ($150 total) because they want the pictures for their portfolio.
It's really best if you consult some of your colleagues who do the same work - get an idea of their prices, then lower that a bit.
