I am looking for someone who will come to my location, and I am in the St. Louis area. How much do people spend on hair and make up stylists for your wedding?
you should probably have the person that is styling your hair be someone that is use to dealing with it. if you dont have a personal stylist of your own then you might want to start taking references and checking out a few people but look at some of there work in person before picking them. i say that $300 for the hair and make up is fairHow much do people spend on hair and make up stylists for your wedding?
It depends how well you want to look, and IDK who could go there. Good Luck! ;P
hey I would say about $75 - $100 for both... about $35 for your hair maybe a bit more if you want the hair dresser to come to you and $40 for make up you can probably get it cheaper then that I'm just going on how much my aunt charges she owns a Caryl Baker Visage store ( which is a make up store that does waxing and facials and make up applications etc...) and they charge $40 for make up application and she also goes to the brides house sometimes but I don't know if she charges more for that or not. but I would safely say $100 Max. call around and find out I would NOT pay more than $150 for both more then that is just ridiculous
You have to pay MORE money if they come to you. I have short hair so I dont want to pay $165+ for a hair dresser to come to me. So day of my wedding I will travel to the hair dresser and only pay like 30-40 bucks. I am paying for someone to spray on my foundation though and do my makeup by coming to my house. So that is 165 for that service.
$300 was my sisters cost.
this is tricky...i too have spent the last several weeks exploring this and at least $500 in trial attempts (yes $500). I was conflicted about the whole idea that someone had to do my hair and make-up but after thinking about it we are throwing a 25K+ wedding and I am wearing the most expensive outfit of my life so why not right???
To answer your question I would say $300-350 sounds right. I am in SF and that is what I am paying. Do the trial regardless of how much it costs. I went to one salon and let's just say that was money well spent to know that NO WAY would they be able to make me beautiful the day of my wedding. Check on-line very interesting industry. the knot.com worked for me! Good luck and congrats!
for my friends wedding it was 35 per person for hair and then 15 for make up. 300 is ridiculous!!! The only way it is worth that is if they are coming to you instead of you going to them.
I just got the quote for hair and make up from the person my venue recommends and it would cost... eeek... $330 for both hair and makeup for the bride. It includes a trial run and the make up artist going to your location on the day of the wedding. She also does the airbrush make-up which is cool.
I never get my hair done, so I have no clue what would be normal, but $330 for hair and makeup seems high to me. That's almost as much as my dress. And it would be $180 for hair and makeup for each bridesmaid, which is more than their dress.
I don't understand why it's so expensive.
WOW so many of these answers surprise me. I've been going to the same hair stylist for 10 years and her normal price for makeup and hair for a wedding is $35 per person and that includes her coming to the location of your wedding and trying different styles before hand. She did my hair for my sister's wedding and I was amazed because i had only shoulder length hair and she did an updo that made me look like I had very long hair. I think you should definitely call some places before you decide to spend that much money on hair and makeup. Congrats on your wedding.
i spent 200 plus a $50 tip for both my hair and make up. it was the same lady and it included a free haircut and manicure for the groom.
i got my hair school, the students did my hair and it was 30 dollars
i got my make-up done at one of those counters at the mall for free :P
