What are some events that make up a traditional wedding?

What do most people do before, during and after the wedding? What are some events that make up a traditional wedding?
I have done many ,many hours research for that question!

I am getting married and I plan for a limo to pick me up(paid for as a gift from my Mother) and then go pick up my brides maids and a friend of my daughters that does voideo and photography, another gift! This video and photo day and wedding is worth $3000! anyway, she will tag along and video and take pictures.

I`ll be taking them to lunch and then to get our hair and nails done! Then off to the Church to get ready!

The Groomsmen will spend the late afternoon and I guess go eat. None of them drink, so just making last minute preps..

Then we have the wedding, most people start the cerimony with a special song, The theme song from Titanic has been a favorite for years! Then you can decide with help from your Pastor what kind of ceremony you want, there are books also, just search on yahoo, if you want to look for your own, some Ministers will not change the one they normally do.

I am planning to get married at 6PM, so I will be serving dinner at the reception. While dinner is going on, we have our first dance and then during the second song we each take turns dancing with each others party.. And them with each other.. Then after that it is custom for a ';specail'; dance! I hear a line dance with all of the wedding party is customary! But, since we don`t all know the Thriller dance, (that is the latest craze) The Chicken Dance will be ours, The brides maids will do the chicken dance around the groom and the groomsmen do it around the bride!

After that more songs and anybody may hit the dance mode! All slow love songs.

Then we cut the cake and socialize a little, then my groom removes my garter, I place it on his left uper arm. Also, if you do not wear your gown to your reception, the maid of honor passes out straight pins and everybody makes a money tree.. They actually pin money all over the bride.. But not a necessay thing to do.

Then there is the greeting line when everybody hugs the groom, or shake his hand and kisses or hugs the bride!

Soon after, it`s out the door, toss the boquet inside or out.. And away to the honeymoon!

If there is anything certain you wanted to know, and I may have missed it, feel free to e-mail or IM me!

Congrats and I pray you will have a very blessed marriage!

When I got married, which was only 2 years ago, we woke up at 6am and everyone got their hair down. Once we got to the church, we had lunch. Following lunch would be time to get ready/dressed because most of the time there are at least some pictures before the wedding ceremony. During the ceremony, you have a sermon, the rings, the unity candle, and vows and once an awhile someone sings a song or two. After the wedding, we dismissed every row one by one and met everyone out in the parking lot. Following the ceremony we had the rest of the pictures. Usually that leads right up until having to get to the reception. Sometimes there is time to go bar hopping, but I didn't care for that.
Usually the morning of the wedding is for the bridal party to make themselves beautiful. The bride and her attendants usually go get their hair done at one salon.

Ceremonies are usually early afternoon, say 2 or 2:30 - usually done within an hour. Then you would all go for photography, whether in a studio or other location. From there, let's say cocktails 5:30, dinner at 6:30, followed by the program. Then there is the cake cutting, if you are having that. The dance would begin, with the first dance for the bride and groom, then any other special dances you plan (for parents, etc), then just the general dance. At some point is the bouquet toss and garter throw, if you are doing those. Then a late lunch, more dancing til the music's done!

Where I'm from, most people have a gift opening the next day, with brunch for family and close friends.
